In this section, West selects the most up-to-date news, accompanied by regulations, data and studies regarding unaccompanied foreign minors: girls and boys from Third Countries, the majority of whom are under 18 years old, who arrive by boat in EU countries without being accompanied by parents or by an adult who is legally responsible for them.

In Germany 2,800 unaccompanied foreign minors were taken into custody by social services in 2010. According to data released by Destatis, in just  two years, their number has increased by 157%
