Karaoke could be a solution for youngsters with dyslexia, says Vanessa Sébert, a French researcher who explains the idea in a video lasting three minutes. She conducted an experiment on a group of children aged eight to 10 with learning disabilities. According to Sebert, karaoke, or singing loudly in front of a video that shows the song lyrics in time with the music, has two important effects. Firstly, music stimulates some important areas of the brain, which are generally lazy in dyslexics. Also, the visual and rhythm concentration, syllable by syllable, increases reading speed and, at the same time, reduces the number of errors in reading. Sebert believes that it takes longer and is more difficult to get these results with traditional therapies.
