ResPublica Report
You can’t have your cake and eat it

The debate around the “Big Society” continues to be scorching, a project launched by Cameron during the election campaign to radically reform the system of citizens services. Understandable when critics come from the Labor Party or the third sector, astonishing when they come from the Prime Minister’s closest collaborators and inventors of the project. This is the case of Philip Blond, director of ResPublica, which published a report harshly critical about child support policies. Raising concerns about the effects that the project will have on the most vulnerable population groups, the paper focuses on children. The Big Society is not to be thrown away, it is clear, it maintains, in fact, intact its potential. However,it lacks of adequate support of the Government, accused to reduce aid to families and to delegate too many responsibility to the subjects of Her Majesty and voluntary organizations.
