When TV is more fiction than reality

Male, white and rich. This is the portrait of French people showed by the characters who populate  fictions and TV programs across the Alps. The data speak for itself: on the television of the “Republique”, almost nine out of ten are white faces. While  disabled people are almost non-existent (0.5%) and women (36%) are relegated to secondary roles of girlfriend, daughter or secretary. In current affairs programs, the scene is almost entirely occupied by the top managers (87%). A portrait of French society  manifestly distorted according to the report that the Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA) recently presented to Parliament. The same authority, in 2009  expressed itself openly in favor of a more faithful and balanced representation of the transalpine community,  inviting the broadcasters to give more “visual” space  to the different social, religious and ethnic groups that make up the population. The study points out that the various networks have largely ignored  the commitments took with the French authority
