Even geographically gender violence in Spain is divided in two: the North is the top of the class while the South and partially the Centre are the tail lamp. Indeed, during the first quarter of 2011 Andalusia, the Canary and Balearic Islands as well as Valencia are the regions where were recorded the highest percentage of complaints for gender violence against women. Not so far from this sad primacy lies the region of Madrid. Looking at the data on a national base there are three aspects that should be highlighted. First, there are nearly 361 Spanish women who every day have the heart to report their tormentors. A second remarkable datum regards the fear of retaliation: up to 3,577 over a total of 32,492 in the first quarter of 2011. Last but not least, the amount of complaints are roughly alike to the previous year. And this stands in favour of the fact that the phenomenon does not know crisis. This is the alert launched by the Spanish national bench.
