Pregnancies among adolescents in Spain are decreasing, even if the age of first sexual relationship is lowered. These are the results of the latest study of the Higher Council for Scientific Research. However, in the autonomous community economically less developed, the rate increases. Sociologists consider that the key factors for the decline in teenage pregnancies are two: the use of effective birth control from the first sexual encounter, but especially the training in order to avoid unwanted pregnancies. The study, conducted on 9,700 women, also shows that young mothers tend to leave school and have more difficulty entering the world of work.
