The wind of migration is changing

For the first time in its recent history Spain faces a migration loss ratio. Indeed, in 2010 the number of those leaving the country exceeded by 28,000 the number of the inbound flow. For the most part, 90%, the phenomenon concerns immigrants who, due to the deep economic crisis affecting Spain, decided to go back to the original homelands. In addition to this, there is a growing issue concerning the fact that many young Spaniards migrate for the lack of jobs. Last but not least, the fertility rate of Spanish women is dropping steadily. According to the National Statistic Institute this phenomenon risks to have more and more effect on the Spanish demographic balance. The risk is so high that it can at last result in a loss of an entire generation of new birth.
