The war for talent, German offensive

The war for talent, German offensive

Universities of Germany speaks less and less German. In ten years, the number of foreign graduates has increased exponentially: there were less than 14 thousand in 2001, while in 2011 they have become over 38 thousand, with a further increase over the previous year to 2,900 units (+8%), as reported by the Statistisches Bundesamt. Of the 38,300 new graduated, the vast majority (79%) moved to Germany to start here the university, among them, the lion’s share – or best of the dragon – is carried out by China: 13% of all foreign students graduated in 2011. Afterwards, Turkey (7%) and Russia (5%). Different the experience of Turkish children, who in most cases, had finished high school in Germany. What are the reasons for this boom? On one hand, the chronic shortage by German companies for highly skilled workers leads to a constant supply of application. So, who graduated in Germany has a good chance to stay doing the job for which they have studied. On the other hand, all students can rely on the loan from the state, which allows families to ease college expenses.
