The Spanish prison population is likely to serve a double penalty. During the period of imprisonment, in fact, is increasing the percentage of those suffering from mental disorders. At the point that, in the Iberian Peninsula 40% of prisoners suffer from this disease. Provide adequate medical support to these people is very necessary especially in view of the release. Because making a new life with the double stigma of being mentally ill and ex-convict is not easy. The risk, in fact, is that the labor and social reintegration of this special category of citizens become impossible. Hence the need of professionals to pay more attention towards those within the walls of the prison shows worrying signs of psychological imbalance. This is shown by a detailed study of the Spanish Society of prison health.
