In Ireland, in 2009, there have been 472 new cases of tuberculosis, an increase over the 2008 figures. The report from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre showed 40.5% of those infected were foreign-born. According to WHO, a remarkable resurgence of this disease has been registered in recent years across Europe.
