Eurofound Report
Suburbs, poor people at war

Why does the suburbs of large European cities risk becoming a real time bomb? The truth is that these are areas where two fragile individuals meet and clash. On one hand, the immigrant, on the other hand the local population living with a low income level, experiencing everyday forms of social exclusion. If this it is added the current economic crisis and the cultural diversity the mix becomes explosive. In particular, according to Eurofound, if they come from far away or not, people who live on the edge is, in most cases, young and single. Forced to live in run-down homes, and in a problematic family context. Not to mention that they often fail to access social services, not because of the scarcity on the territory, but as a result of the difficulty in obtaining information about their use.
