Ask for help to the emergency room and be told “I do not understand”. This is not the misfortune of an Italian tourist in London, but one of many medical malpractice of which are victims British citizens themselves. Strange, but true. In many hospitals of Her Majesty, in fact, health workers speak little or badly the national language. A real anomaly justified by the fact that, given the shortage of indigenous labor force, in recent years the public health system has recruited staff from abroad, without, however, an examination of language. With the result that more and more doctors and nurses have many difficulties to interact with patients. A phenomenon that denies in no uncertain terms all those who criticize or impede the introduction of language tests for newcomers.
