Smoking backwards

In the opposite direction as regard of the most part of European countries which especially in past years have intensify struggle against tobacco, Netherland takes a step back. Actually, the government decides to lighten the provision, came into effect in 2008, that ban smoke in workplaces, restaurants, bars, cafes, nightclubs. Under pressure from licence holders, concerned about their own business due to smoking bans, the government has rolling back the restriction exempted from the legislation small bars and cafes. Politicians defend their policy changes on the grounds of personal freedom in consistency with the country’s liberal reputation. Bars and pubs whose would benefits by the exception must be running by the owner only. Likely dispute among employer and employee on the risk of secondhand smoke are eventually over. A sign will inform customer whether or not they are allowed to smoke in. Anti-smoking associations said that freedom of choice is not a matter because addicted people are not free and they cannot choose to stop.
