Smartphone, new barrier for disabled

Today, you know, you’re not so cool if you do not have a touch mobile. Too bad, though, that the super-engineers who have worked hard to design this latest miracle of technology is not at all concerned about the needs of blind people. That, while in the past had no problem with the traditional keyboards today are in fact unable to use the new devices. In short, this is a paradox: the hi-tech rather than reduce, increase social exclusion. Luckily two young Spanish researchers have recently developed an application called “Touch Eyes”, just to make the so-called smartphones more accessible. A new feature as simple as essential: it is a Braille keyboard to be used on the phone through a removable plastic screensaver. Everything always with a voice guide that helps to avoid errors. Add contacts, send text messages, write notes, update your calendar, are just some of the things that blind users can carry out from now on without any difficulty.
