The number of elderly people living alone and at risk of fuel poverty in Northern Ireland this winter has risen by 20% on last year, that is according to a new survey by the Northern Ireland’s strategic housing authority, the Housing Executive. Almost two-thirds of older people will not be able to afford to heat their home in 2011.
