Poverty springs from wealth

The latest data from the French National Institute of Statistics (INSEE) show the relationship between wealth and poverty which is directly proportional in a given country. In France in 2009, there was an increase of 0.5% of poor people, symmetrically there was a +0.4% of the median standard of living over the previous year. In short, the well-being bar has been raised and consequently increased the number of poor. Despite to what you may think, therefore, the international economic crisis has affected only marginally on these numbers. However, we must not forget that the impoverishment of the French population e was also partially offset by state unemployment benefits. So much so that, at the same time period, the percentage of beneficiaries in the total population increased from 3.6% to 4.4%.
