Outlaw prison

French prisons are outlaw. But this is not because of the prisoners’ discipline, but because these have the high risk of contracting an infectious disease. A study published by the Institute of Health Surveillance shows how French jails have deficiency in the application of preventive measures of diseases such as hepatitis and HIV. These deficiencies may be defined fundamentals if you think that in many prison even condoms run out. Not to mention that, with regard to an important and sensitive issue such as drug addiction, only 27% of the structures observed WHO recommendations for the provision of opioid replacement therapy. Serious gaps also in information received by prisoners. Half of these, in fact, are not aware of the possibility to use, to reduce the chances of having contracted AIDS, a post-exposure treatment. In light of the facts, in France, the redefinition of prevention and care policies in a place like the prison seems to be a priority.
