Nicolas Sarkozy is working in sight of the next election betting everything on immigration. The objective is to stop the Front National Party and its leader Marine Le Pen. This is one of the reasons why the French Secretary of the Interior Claude Guéant has announced pompously that the number of irregular immigrants deported during 2011 has reached the number of 33.000 people. Comparing the figures of 2011 with those of the previous year the results is an incresement of the 17,5%. A big result if considered that the quota fixed by the government was that of 28.000 people. Furthermore the figures related to the new permits of stay given to immigrants during the last 12 months are 182.595, the 3,6% less than in 2010. The next objective of Sarkozy’s government will be the reduction of 150.000 units of the number of immigrants arriving in France in one year. This will bring back the same numbers of the early 90s. All these figures seem to be very important in an electoral campaign that will be played all à droite.
