Becoming a mother thanks to a transplant

The world’s first transplant utero from mother to daughter, dreamed since 1999, was performed by a team of surgeons at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. A new era as the first coupling uterus was successfully accomplished in Turkey in 2011, but in that case the organ came from a deceased donor. To determine the success of the intervention the team will have to wait until 2014 excluding the rejection, probable up to 20%. Subsequently, the patient will have to wait at least a year before groped to get pregnant, using in vitro fertilization.
