Good news for LGBT Hungarians. On 13 July, in fact, the President has signed ^[1]the new Criminal Code which provides specific references to sexual orientation and gender identity in its provisions on incitement to hatred. The new law, amending the previous dating from 1978, will enter into force on 1 July 2013. Whereas the old law specifically prohibited intolerance on grounds of nationality, ethnicity or race or religion, the new code also extends protection to sexual orientation, gender identity and disability.
