Note about ItalyAn Overview of Growing Income Inequalities in OECD Countries
Special Focus: Inequality in Emerging Economies
The average income of the top 10% of Italians, in 2008, was 10 times higher than that of the bottom 10%: € 49,300 against € 4,877. A comparison that highlights the deep inequality among workers of this country, reported in the OECD report “Divided We Stand: Why Inequality Keeps Rising“, presented yesterday at the National Institute for Statistics. The publication contains a detailed analysis of the income gap of the families, in the thirty years that preceded the recent global economic crisis.
