In Italy, more than five million housewives, by next January 31, are required to subscribe the INAIL insurance against domestic accidents. It costs € 12.91 and is addressed to all persons aged between 18 and 65 years involved full-time, free of charge and in an exclusive way, in the care of the house. This is not an actual legal obligation but an act of responsibility, given that this type of incidents is quite widespread. In most cases, it concerns slips and falls (by stairs, chairs and stools) and mostly affects women in old age (between 56 and 65 years). For this reason the National Institute is promoting a widespread awareness campaign on the phenomenon. Even in light of the fact that at the time, the registered people are a small minority of the total potential users: 1,732,270.
