74% of the French people judge Islam an intolerant religion, even incompatible with the secular values of the French society. A survey carried out by Ipsos reveals, indeed, that in France the Muslim religion is not currently enjoying a good reputation. It could be due to an excessive exploitation of certain media. However, beyond the claims deemed legitimate (construction of Mosques, Muslim confessors in prison, etc.), many others are considered exorbitant by most of the public, namely a threat to secularism: the question of the Islamic headscarf, the authorization of certain religious practices at work, the halal meat in schools (72% of respondents opposing this habit).
