Illiteracy of the top of the class

Surprise! Illiteracy in adulthood affects the top of the class. In Germany, in fact, much of the 7.5 million workers (14% of total) can read and write no more than a single sentence. Another 13 million also have trouble with longer and complex texts. They are mostly men and, despite what you may think, the phenomenon is not unique to immigrants. Alarming numbers that have prompted the German Ministry of Education and Research to allocate € 20 million to implement literacy courses that until now were reserved only for citizens of foreign origin and a maximum of 45 thousand seats. It will be up to the regional governments to periodically monitor the success of the initiative. This is shown by a recent and detailed study by the University of Hamburg.
