Even in Belgium, on the cutting edge in terms of civil rights, prejudices against homosexuals are hard to die. In short, while the laws keep up with the times, Belgian society does not. For istance, for citizens of this small country of the Old Continent, AIDS and LGBT community go hand in hand. Not to mention that according to the annual report of the “Centre pour l’egalité des changes” it is at school that people experience the highest number of gender discrimination. The study also sheds a light on a little unknown aspect, one about immigrants who want to contract a gay marriage in the Kingdom of Albert II. In fact, the Belgian legislation schedules the submission of certain documents issued by migrant’s state of origin. A real mission impossible. Because in many states of origin, loving someone of the same sex is a real crime.
