Banished from the workplace tanks to anti discrimination laws, the homophobia in France is getting more widespread on the web, mainly due to the anonymity provided by Internet. According to the latest report of the SOS Homophobie association, discriminatory and violent acts against homosexuals and transgender people would be in dramatic increase in places where it is not possible to recognize as on-line (+66%) or in public places (+ 43% compared to 2004). While, according to statistics reported in the paper, such cases are greatly diminished in their own offices and in all areas of work. Where internal regulations and the fear for career repercussions discourage the occurrence of such behaviour. In its six years of life the association has collected reports and denounces especially from men, exposed more than women to homophobic acts.
