In Italy the world of information is politicized and completely in the hands of the duopoly RAI – Mediaset. Television is still the preferred channel by the families in order to stay informed. Even if the new media are becoming increasingly popular. Italians like the Internet, but broadband is still too little widespread and the digital divide between the north and the south and between urban and rural areas still remains a problem. These are findings of the report “Mapping Digital Media: Italy” of the Open Society Foundations.
