cybersuicide Fr
Facebook may save your life

In France so-called cybersuicide is on the rise. The practice of announcing the extreme gesture on social networks. A phenomenon somewhat questionable which though presents a positive side. Not only because the online “friends” have the time to alert the police at the last minute to save the lives of who is going to commit suicide. So much that in 2010 alone, the French police has been very successful in preventing this dramatic act 181 times: +238% over the previous year. A real change as opposed to the past when the long-known farewell letter written by hand could only be useful to understand the reasons behind an already accomplished fact. Not surprisingly, the Interior Ministry of France has even decided to open up a portal tailored to encourage in these cases internet lovers to launch as soon as possible the alarm in order to allow the gendarmerie to identify, by IP address, the real localization of the aspiring suicide. It should be noted that the authorities have verified that there is a minimum percentage of pranksters looking for a nice moment of celebrity but that risk a lot: up to two years imprisonment and a fine of 30,000 euros.
