Facebook is not just a way to spend time, by sharing moods, photos and videos with your friends. But a real machine to make money and create workplaces. In Italy, for example, it is estimated that the famous social network has created 33,800 jobs and contributes to the economic output for € 2.5 billion. A surprising result for this country, which is surpassed only by Germany (36,200 jobs and € 2.6 billion) and Great Britain (35,200 jobs and € 2.6 billion). This is what emerges from a Deloitte report that took into account several aspects. The first is the direct impact on the labour market, which comprehends money for wages, buildings, equipment and suppliers. The second one is related to the increase of the turnover of the companies thanks to free and paid advertising, the fan pages and the direct communication with users. The third one refers to the influence on sales in the technology sector, since, for many people, Facebook is the decisive factor for choosing a smartphone or a tablet. The fourth and last one concerns the “app economy”, ie software that runs on the platform allowing users to download apps on facebook, which only in Italy is equal to € 120 million.
