Discapnet survey
Disability 2.0

Is Web 2.0 accessible to the disabled? Very little, according to a Discapnet survey which enumerates the difficulties facing Spanish disabled people when they use social networks. The level of accessibility of the eight most popular social networking platforms among the Spanish users was calculated using indicators such as the easiness of net surfing, page structures, the use of colours. As stated by some experts consulted for the study, LinkedIn is the most accessible web portal, followed by Flickr e Xing. The other social networks examined (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) present lower levels of accessibility up to  the total inaccessibility of MySpace. In the technicians’ opinion, the survey takes into account the evaluations provided by the differently-abled users as well, who gave mediocre evaluations to all of them.
