In UK, 14,500 babies had a birth defect in 2009. Which include Down’s syndrome, congenital heart disease, spina bifida. More than 1 in 50. Almost double the previous estimate, that have suggested 1 in 80 babies suffers from a defect. The report, the most comprehensive of its kind, was published by the British Isles Network of Congenital Anomaly Registers (Binocar).
