Druid report- 08-2011
Belgian at the wheel, a constant danger

Belgian drivers placed last in Europe for alcohol and cannabis consumption. This is what raised from the Druid report (Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, alcohol and medicines) funded by the European Commission. Whereby, in the reign of Albert II occur every year the highest percentage of road accidents caused by the abuse of drugs and alcohol by drivers. What’s more, among the citizens of this small land of the Old Continent marijuana’s consumption is widespread to overcome in terms of percentage (9.9%) that recorded in the neighbouring liberal Netherlands (1.6%). Nothing short of alarming that led many major political leaders of Belgium, either Flemish or Walloons, to promise new and more stringent measures to combat the phenomenon.
