Against discrimination towards aged homosexuals, Spain is about to introduce a gay-friendly old people’s home. Indeed, next January in the municipality of Rivas- Maciamadrid, 20 km from Madrid, is going to be inaugurated the Residencial XXIV de Diciembre. It is a real ad hoc retirement home meant for over 65 years old people part of the LGBT community. The initiative has been promoted by the “26th December” Foundation aimed at helping those citizens that even in an advanced age live in disadvantaged conditions and marginalization due to their sexual orientation. Inspired by the German “Asta Nielsen Haus” – the first homosexual seniors’ home in Europe- this luxurious residential complex is going to comprise 115 apartments equipped with various comforts and common areas such as a gym, a spa and a restaurant.
